Hey Greg!
You will never guess
where I got to this week! (And no fair looking at the photograph
until you have read the whole message).
You will remember that
I went on a Peace March in London a few weeks ago. (I am still waiting
for Sally to finish the roll of film that was in the camera so that
I can send you a picture). Well, it seems that the British Prime
Minister, Tony Blair, was watching the news coverage of the march
and saw me there and he thought it would be really good if I could
come with him as he went around various countries over the past
week talking to their leaders to see if we could find a way to avoid
having to go to war.
Well, one of his secretaries
telephoned your uncle Greg and asked if it would be all right if
I joined him on a trip. Greg said that would be fine so he put me
in an envelope addressed to 10 Downing Street, London (that's where
the Prime Minister of Great Britain lives - it's like the White
House is where the President lives but they don't have a president
in Britain - the Prime Minister does the same kind of job really).
So, I arrived at 10 Downing
Street and as soon as the envelope was opened and I could pop out,
Tony Blair picked me up and we went racing off to Heathrow Airport
for a flight to Italy. We first met with the Italian Prime Minister
and then we went to the Vatican where I got to meet the Pope! He
was really nice and he was really excited to meet me - you can see
in the picture how he took me away from Tony Blair so that he could
hold me close up. Well, we talked for quite a long time and I told
the Pope a few jokes which he thought were very funny. Did you know
that the Vatican is just a small city but it is a whole country
all on its own? I think it must be one of the smallest countries
in the whole world!
Well, that's about it
for this week. I can't wait to see what happens over the next week.
Your pal,
Flat Stanley
