Penny and Greg's Easter Vacation - 2003

When it came to the final construction there was some discussion and considerable consternation concerning the degree to which the two sides of the trellis did not fit. Inevitably, there was a fair amount of name-calling and accusations involving Greg's inability to use a tape measure. The Three Stooges soon managed however, with the assistance of a large persuader, to convince the two halves of the trellis that they really did want to fit together.
Inspite of their incompetence and general uselessness, the finished trellis was eventually erected in place at the end of the vegetable garden. Now, all that's required is for Miles to discover that climbing cucumbers despise clinging to copper tube or to find that the tubes get so hot in the summer sun that they fry the cucumbers to a crisp.

After a splendid weekend which included a rock concert, a tremendous Mexican meal, a fantastic barbecue with Ben Ryan's cousins, more time with Ben and Donna including a visit to the LA County Museum of Art for an Amsel Adams exhibition, a fabulous lunch with good friend Cayce Blanchard in Long Beach (sorry - no photos. Someone who shall remain nameless forgot to take the camera!), the arrival at Gate 17B of sister Susie from Portland, we set off on the second leg of our adventure - to Phoenix and Prescott.
