A man was on a walking holiday and, when he became thirsty, decided to ask at a home for something to drink. The lady of the house invited him in and served him a bowl of soup by the fire.<\/p>\n
There was a little pig running around the kitchen, running up to the visitor and giving him a great deal of attention. The visitor commented that he had never seen a pig this friendly.<\/p>\n
The housewife replied: “Ah, he’s not that friendly. That’s his bowl you’re using.”<\/p>\n
One Sunday morning, when my son was about five, we were attending a church in our community. It was common for the preacher to invite the children to the front of the church and have a small lesson before beginning the sermon. He would bring in an item they could find around the house and relate it to a teaching from the Bible.<\/p>\n
This particular morning, the visual aid for his lesson was a smoke detector. He asked the children if anyone knew what it meant when an alarm sounded from the smoke detector.<\/p>\n
My child immediately raised his hand and said, “It means Daddy’s cooking dinner.”<\/p>\n
After leaving the racetrack Bill bumped into his old friend Peter on the bus.<\/p>\n
\u201cSay,\u201d Peter said, \u201cHow\u2019s it going?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cGoing? You want to hear one of the most amazing things that ever happened? Tell me \u2013 what\u2019s today\u2019s date?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cJuly seventh.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cRight. The seventh day, of the seventh month. I go to the track at seven minutes past seven. My son is seven years old today, and we live at number seven, Seventh Avenue.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cLet me guess,\u201d Peter interrupted. \u201cYou put everything you had on the seventh horse in the seventh race.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cRight.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd he won!\u201d Peter sighed.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo. He came in seventh.\u201d<\/p>\n
