{"id":2294,"date":"2012-01-01T07:00:11","date_gmt":"2012-01-01T07:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stragnell.com\/befoulednews\/?p=2294"},"modified":"2011-12-29T12:55:04","modified_gmt":"2011-12-29T12:55:04","slug":"1-january-2012-amusements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.stragnell.com\/befoulednews\/2012\/01\/01\/1-january-2012-amusements\/","title":{"rendered":"1 January 2012 &#8211; Amusements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This from Dad:<\/p>\n<p>A nice, calm and respectable lady went into the pharmacy, walked up to the pharmacist, looked straight into his eyes, and said, &#8220;I&#8217;d like to buy some cyanide.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The pharmacist asked, &#8220;Why in the world do you need cyanide?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The lady replied, &#8220;I need it to poison my husband.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The pharmacist&#8217;s eyes got big and he explained, &#8220;Lord have mercy!\u00a0 I can&#8217;t give you cyanide to kill your husband, that&#8217;s against the law! I&#8217;ll lose my license! They&#8217;ll throw both of us in jail! All kinds of bad things will happen. Absolutely not! You CANNOT have any cyanide!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The lady reached into her purse and pulled out a picture of her husband in bed with the pharmacist&#8217;s wife.<\/p>\n<p>The pharmacist looked at the picture and said, &#8220;Well, why didn\u2019t you tell me you had a prescription?&#8221;<!--more--><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>I\u2019ve seen a number of variations on the following theme but there&#8217;s no denying the logic &#8211; it must be true:<\/p>\n<p>For a couple years I&#8217;ve been blaming it on lack of sleep and too much pressure from my job, but now I found out the real reason: I&#8217;m tired because I&#8217;m overworked.<\/p>\n<p>The population of this country is 237 million. 104 million are retired. That leaves 133 million to do the work.<\/p>\n<p>There are 85 million in school, which leaves 48 million to do the work.<\/p>\n<p>Of this there are 29 million employed by the federal government, leaving 19 million to do the work.<\/p>\n<p>2.8 million are in the Armed Forces, which leaves 16.2 million to do the work.<\/p>\n<p>Take from the total the 14,800,000 people who work for State and City Governments and that leaves 1.4 million to do the work.<\/p>\n<p>At any given time there are 188,000 people in hospitals, leaving 1,212,000 to do the work.<\/p>\n<p>Now, there are 1,211,998 people in prisons.<\/p>\n<p>That leaves just two people to do the work. You and me. And you&#8217;re sitting at your computer reading jokes.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Our first day at a resort, my wife and I decided to hit the beach. When I went back to our room to get something to drink, one of the hotel maids was making our bed.
