Good morning to you all. Yesterday was a glorious sunny day – I wonder what today will bring? The forecast is for heavy rain which probably means we can look forward to a splendid barbeque this evening.

The big news this weekend is the successful conclusion of a significant surgical procedure for one of our occasional readers. After struggling with debilitating pain in one of her hips for some weeks, Pen’s mum Beryl had a hip replacement done on Thursday which seems to have gone well. By Friday morning she was apparently back to her daily calisthenics regime consisting of jumping jacks, sit-ups, squats and lunges. She’ll be in for a few more days and then will come to us for a recuperation period as their cottage is riddled with steps and steep stairs everywhere one turns. Perfect for an elderly couple! 12 June 2011 – Amusements

It just hit me:

My dog sleeps about 20 hours a day.

He has his food prepared for him.

He can eat whenever he wants, 24/7/365.

His meals are provided at no cost to him.

He visits the doctor once a year for his check-up, and again during the year if any medical needs arise.

For all this he pays nothing, and nothing is required of him.

He lives in a nice neighborhood in a house that is much larger than he needs, but he is not required to do any upkeep. If he makes a mess, someone else cleans it up for him.

He has his choice of luxurious places to sleep.

He is living like a King, and has absolutely no expenses whatsoever.

All of his costs are picked up by others who go out and earn a living every day.

I was just thinking about all this, and suddenly it hit me:
